ReceiveThe Fulfillment Of God’s Promises Through Diligence
Heb. 6:9-15
The book of Hebrew contains the exploits of faith. Those who through their faith in God, surmounted mountains and hence were inducted into the hall of fame. They couldn’t have achieved such feat without diligence and patience; they waited on God patiently until they saw the fulfilment of His promises. In verse 12, there seems to be a relationship between slothfulness and putting our faith to work. The scripture admonishes us to follow those who through faith inherited the kingdom. The disposition of some Thessalonica brethren to Paul’s teaching on Christ’s second coming was condemned in 2 Thess. 3:10-12. They withdrew from their secular jobs with the understanding that Christ would soon come; instead of getting busy doing productive works as they await the fulfilment of this promise, they became busybodies. What a misconception! Believers are encouraged to work so that they can have enough to support themselves and others as well as the church of God. Apostle Paul set forth this precedence to the Corinthians in 1Cor. 4:12.
POINT OF EMPHASIS: Diligence is also required in God’s work
PRAYER POINT: Oh Lord help me to be diligent and steadfast in You till the end.
