Tithe Is Mandatory For All
2 Chro. 31:4-6
During the days of Hezekiah, the Israelites responded with their own generous gifts. The people set example of how people of God should give to God and their spiritual leaders. They did not grumble nor complain. Neither did they quit at their first giving. It was done to the extent of having enough for God’s work and the upkeep of their spiritual leaders. Hezekiah commanded the people to give the firstfruits and tithe of all their produce to the Priests and Levites (verse 4) thus enabling them to concentrate and devote themselves more fully to the work of God. There was none of the Israelites that refused to give as commanded by Hezekiah. Likewise, in the new covenant, believers are to give their gifts and tithe generously for their spiritual leaders so that they will give themselves continually to the ministry of the word (Acts 6:4). If you benefit from the spiritual labour of your leaders, it is your responsibility to pay your tithes as at when due (Gal. 6:6-10).
POINT OF EMPHASIS: Ask yourself, “Am I faithful in my obligations to God and my spiritual leaders?
PRAYER POINT: The grace to be faithful in discharging my obligation to my spiritual leaders and God, I receive in Jesus’ name (Amen)
