Lot Mourned Over Wickedness Of Sodom
2 Pet. 2:4-11
Mourning for sin comes from a realisation that unless there is genuine repentance, terrible judgment is inevitable. The mourner knows that “it is a fearful thing to fall into the hands of the living God” because “our God is a consuming fire” (Heb. 10:31; 12:29). The mourning does not necessary have to be for one’s personal sin. Lot knew that the people of Sodom were going to suffer the repercussion of their sins. Knowing the terror of falling into the hands of God, he was tormented and fearful for what was to come upon them. Besides, his righteous soul did not find rest, seeing the horrible sins going on around him. There is the temptation for a righteous person to get used to seeing sins around him and to accept as normal. The acceptance is a slippery way for the righteous person to compromise. Do not let your soul become comfortable with sins around you.
POINT OF EMPHASIS: Do not let your soul get comfortable with the sins around you.
PRAYER POING: Father, make my spirit comfortable only with those things that please You.
