GOD SENT ELIJAH
GOD SENT ELIJAH
It was in a time as this that God sent Elijah. The hearts of the people had departed from God.
They were the picture of Matthew 15:8
This people draweth nigh unto me with their mouth, and honoureth me with [their] lips; but their heart is far from me
Elijah began to preach and he challenged the people;
“How long will you waver between two opinions? If the Lord is God, follow him; but if Baal is God, follow him.” But the people said nothing. (1 Kings 18:21 NIV)
The bible said that the people WAVERED between two opinions. One translation says they halted and limped…AMP
1. Somewhere in their minds, they were not fully convinced that Jehovah is God. They were limping between God and Baal.
After seeing the Red Sea divided and how the Egyptians who pursued them perished in the sea, they still limped between two opinions
After they had been supernaturally fed for 40 years in the wilderness eating the food of angels; their clothes didn’t wear out; they walked for 40 years and their feet did not swell. ; they had no house for 40 years, they roamed from one place to another; they still weren’t convinced that Jehovah is God.
They limped between two opinions!
God had delivered them from many enemies; Goliath and the Philistines; the Amalekites, all the nations stronger and greater than them.
In spite of all this, they still were not convinced.
They were still thinking in their head;
is God really God?
Is Jesus really the way?
Does God really answer prayers?
Will God really bless me?
Will God be faithful to me?
Can I try God with my finances?
Can I trust him to supply my needs?
I came to talk to the halting and the limping and the wavering this morning.
After all that God has done for you and brought you through, do you still doubt him?
Some of you have seen miracles. You have seen the hand of God. You have experienced the blessing of God.
How long will you continue to waver in your faith and be one leg in and one leg out?
You have tasted the power of Jesus
You have felt his presence
You have experienced his love
You have seen his glory
What more needs to be done to convince you that He is the Lord and now you must settle down and serve him?
You have seen the blessing of giving and trusting God for your finances
What further conviction do you need to let Christ Jesus be number one in your life and Lord over your finances?
