Filling The Gaps For One Another’s Weakness
1 Sam. 25:14-25
Nabal was a very churlish man whose action would have brought disaster to him and his family. On the other hand Abigail, his wife, was a very thoughtful, polite and generous woman. When Nabal repaid David’s help with disdain and abuses, Abigail quickly covered for him, thereby averting the disaster which would have befallen the family. Each member of a family has one weakness or the other. Members of the family who do not have the same weakness should rally round to ensure they cover up for the weak one. A family member may be impetuous, while the spouse is calm and is able to exercise self-control. A member of the family may be a carefree spender while the spouse is a good financial manager. A member of the family may be unhealthily reserved while the spouse is a socialite. Each temperament has its strength and weakness. Family members should fill the gaps for one another.
Point of Emphasis: Be quick to fill the gap for your spouse’s weakness.
Prayer Point: Father, deliver families where spouses compete against instead of cooperating with each other.
