The Principle Of Speaking Graceful Word
1 Sam. 25:2-35
Words are powerful. The Yoruba has an adage that says “your word will either attract kolanut from the pocket or sword from the sheath.” The way you use words will determine the outcome of your relationship with others. If you are fond of speaking with anger in your voice, your relationship cannot be devoid of strife many of the times. The Bible says a soft answer turns away wrath, but a harsh word stirs up anger (Pro. 15:1). To avoid stress in your interpersonal relationship, avoid using harsh words. Nabal would have lost his life before his time because of his inability to speak graceful word. Even if he had nothing to give to the servants of David, if he explained to them with soft words, David’s servants would not have presented the case in a way that would have infuriated David. David’s reaction would have been different. Learn to control your emotion when responding to issues and to people.
Point of Emphasis: He that does not stumble in word is a perfect man, able also to control the whole body (Jam. 3:2).
Prayer Point: Lord, let my speech always be with grace. Help me to know how to answer every man without anger.
