God’s Word Is Life And Spirit
Jn. 6:60-63
Jesus spoke in our passage today about what His word is. He says that “the word I speak unto you, they are spirit and life” (verse 63). In the Old Testament, God gave His people the law. The demand of the law without the power of God brings condemnation. The word that Jesus spoke under the New Testament are written upon the tablet of believers’ heart. Through the power of the Holy Spirit they are able to obey it. Christians continue to have faith in Him and prayerfully receive His word. Jesus is the Living Word (Jn. 1:1) while the Bible is the written word (2 Tim. 3:16). Through salvation in Christ, the Spirit gives us spiritual life and power to fulfil the will of God. In Matt. 4:4, Jesus says “man shall not live by bread alone but by every word that proceeded out of the mouth of God”. This means that we remain in Him by receiving and obeying His word. If you want to live forever, you must feed upon the word of God.
Point of Emphasis: The word Jesus speaks is Life and spirit (verse 63)
Prayer Point: Give me grace to feed upon Your word so that I can live forever.
