Jesus, Greatest Example
Jn. 13:1-15
Jesus selected twelve men to be His disciples. They went together for over three years. They saw Him perform miracles, and at one point Peter, one of the twelve, confessed Him to be the Christ. The time for Him to be betrayed was drawing near. He knew who would betray Him, yet He did not fight the traitor. Instead He demonstrated the highest example of meekness to all His disciples. He took a bowl of water and a towel and proceeded to wash and dry the feet of His disciples – a job that was reserved for the lowest slave in a household. He told His disciples that what He did was an example for them. They were enjoined to follow the examples laid down. How do you treat those who oppose you, especially when they are your subordinates?
POINT OF EMPHASIS: “I have given you an example; that you should do as I have done to you.”
PRAYER POINT: Help us to treat others with the meekness You demonstrated, Lord Jesus.
