Faith Comes By Hearing
Rom. 10:16-18
Another way the word of God enriches us is by building up our faith. Christ is the Word and the Word is Christ (Jn. 1:1). Before we accepted and believed Christ, we had to hear Christ (the Word). In order to grow then, we have to keep hearing Christ. When we study the word of God and accept it, our faith increases. Our study of the word of God allows us to become increasingly familiar with the ways of God. Reading the Bible stories of how he healed, delivered and blessed His people will enable us trust God more easily, and this way our faith increases. We should remember that we are saved by grace through faith, as a gift from God (Eph. 2:8). When we receive any gift given by God, we have the responsibility of exercising it and not becoming lazy or complacent with it.
Point of Emphasis: Our faith can increase or decrease in value depending on our response to the word of God.
Prayer Point: O Lord, strengthen my faith as I study Your word.
