Admonish Them In Psalms And Hymns
Col. 3:12-17
When it is necessary to admonish someone, what is the source of our inspiration? Advice or warning are often based on cultural trainings, philosophy of men, our past experiences and the lessons we learnt from them, societal accepted norms and bias as. Such basis cannot bring forth the righteousness of God in the life of the person being admonished. Admonition should be based on the word of God. What does the word of God say about the particular situation we set out to address? What has been the revealed mind of God concerning the situation? In the passage read, psalms and hymns refer to inspiration from the word of God and Holy Spirit inspired hymns. It is better to keep quiet and give no admonition if one has not received what to say from God rather than admonish as the friends of Job.
Point of Emphasis: Let your admonition be based on inspiration from God.
Prayer Point: I receive the grace to know what to say in every situation that will draw men close to you, O God.
