The Widow’s Mite
Mk. 12:41-44; Lk. 2:37; Acts 3:6
And Jesus sat over the treasury and beheld how the people cast money, not how much the people cast. That’s interesting! Jesus Christ often visits our church treasury, not just to look at the offerings and gifts but at the hearts! Many rich men cast in much but the poor widow was rated the most blessed in service that day. Heaven’s approval is far different from man’s approval. We see that giving that moves God’s heart is not just the quality or quantity of the seed but the state of the heart and what is left-a heart ready to surrender all to Jesus Christ, a gift out of poverty. Many say they have nothing to give; you may give your service to God in prayers and fasting as that widow in (Lk. 2:37); you may open your bowels of compassion and go all the way for your brother(1 Jn. 3:17); you may give the power in the Name of Jesus Christ as Peter and John in Acts 3:6;it doesn’t have to be monetary when it comes to offerings; you may drop your wristwatch in devotion to the Lord, your gold, your silver, etc, not grudgingly but cheerfully. God loves those who give out of their poverty.
POINT OF EMPHASIS: You have something to give.
PRAYER POINT: Lord, open my eyes to the seeds I need to sow per time to provoke heaven’s approval; give me the grace to give as I ought.
