Asserting Authority
Acts 3:1-10
Peter and John began to live in the consciousness of the authority they had received in the name of Jesus; they were conscious of the presence of the power of the Holy Spirit. Both of them looked at the crippled beggar intently and first admitted that they had no money to give him. The crippled man was always brought there and that was perhaps not the first time Peter and John had seen him there. But that day, they asserted the authority vested in them. The man was asked to rise up and walk; they demonstrated their belief in the pronouncement by grabbing the hand of the lame and helping him up. Christ’s glorious church needs to act out the authority vested in her by our Lord. We should not feel impotent when chronic situations confront us. There is need to proactively declare our faith in the name of Jesus to turn things around. We can reverse an unpleasant situation using the authority in the name of Jesus. We may seek appropriate counsel, but we must pray for God’s immediate intervention for change. When fears and doubts show up, assert Christ’s authority by declaring the mind and counsel of God. God’s word will surely prevail.
Point of Emphasis: Don’t feel weak, assert your God-given authority at all times.
Prayer Point: Lord, help me to live in the consciousness of the authority You have given to me in Jesus’ name.
