Choosing To Suffer Affliction
Heb. 11:24-26
Moses grew up in the palace of Pharaoh and had all the power and privileges of being the son of Pharaoh’s daughter. Fellow Israelites were maltreated as slaves while he enjoyed the pleasures of the palace. He could have lived the rest of his life in Pharaoh’s palace without experiencing the pain of slavery. When the time to decide where he would spend the rest of his life, he chose to cast his lot on the side of the children of God. He abandoned the soft life of the palace for the harsh life in the wilderness and to suffer affliction with his fellow Israelites. Had he chosen to continue living in the palace, he would have lived, died and be forgotten. Those who will become relevant in God’s plan for mankind will not shy away from the affliction and ridicule which unbelievers heap on believers.
Point of Emphasis: Esteem the reproach of Christ greater than the treasures in the world.
Prayer Point: Father, grant me the grace to take the decision which will bring me eternal reward.
