Stick To Your First Love
Rev. 2:4-5; Deut. 6:5-9
Your first love always sticks with you, because it constantly rings in your memory. Likewise, when you cast back your mind on your past life, and remember when you accepted Jesus Christ as your Lord and Personal Saviour (if you did), attending the Church services to fellowship with Jesus Christ and the brethren always blow your mind. There is the zeal to go extra mile in everything for the Lord’s sake. Our devotional life and passion for perishing souls was second to none. His love propels us to obey His Word, preaching it passionately and living it in demonstration of our new life in Christ through exemplary lifestyle. Our motivating scripture was “You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your strength” (Deut. 6:5) as we keep Jesus Christ first in our hearts. We started out strong, but over time things begin to change. What matters then, doesn’t matter again as our first love for Christ is declining on a daily basis. So, Rev.2:4-5 is prophetic, preventive and prescriptive for us. God does not want us to become like the Church at Ephesus. Repent from where you have fallen!
Point of Emphasis: Remember where you have fallen and return to your first true love of Christ.
Prayer Point: Lord, I repent of my falling and receive the grace to stick to my first love in Christ Jesus.
