Fools Insist On Conflict
Prov. 20:2-3
It is unwise to be annoyed with a saddist who doesn’t love the way of peace. People who have not known Christ think in their wisdom that it is right to fight for their right but this shall not be so for Christians. This lesson brings into remembrance the story of the encounter of a man of God with a mad man encounter. The man of God rose up early in the morning to honour an invitation to preach somewhere. On his way, he got to a narrow bridge placed on a canal that can only take a person at a time. The mad man got to the other side. Sensing the mad man coming, the man of God did not wait for him to pass before he embarked on the bridge. They met at the middle and an argument ensued. They were shouting at each other. The clergyman shouted at the mad man, “you are mad”. When the passer-by saw the scenario, someone among the crowd interjected, saying, “who is really mad between the two of them?” You can guess the answer yourself. It is not expedient for a true pilgrim to heavenly kingdom to trade words with those that come to obstruct the way. Be warned if you have heaven in view.
Point of Emphasis: It is unwise to quarrel with a saddist because it is an honour to cease from strife.
Prayer Point: Lord, grant me the grace not to be an instrument of strife in the church. Make me a man of honour that ceases from strife.
