HOW LONG WILL YOU WAVER BETWEEN TWO OPINIONS?
HOW LONG WILL YOU WAVER BETWEEN TWO OPINIONS?
If God is God, then serve him!
1. Serve him well
Hebrews 12:28 (KJV)
Wherefore we receiving a kingdom which cannot be moved, let us have grace, whereby we may serve God acceptably with reverence and godly fear:
2. Serve him with reverence, respect and fear
Let us therefore, receiving a kingdom that is firm and stable and cannot be shaken, offer to God pleasing service and acceptable worship, with modesty and pious care and godly fear and awe; For our God [is indeed] a consuming fire. [Deut. 4:24.] (Hebrews 12:28-29 AMP)
3. Serve Him respectfully
If you will not chew gum and make noise or walk around indiscriminately or chat in a court room or before a judge, why would you do that before the King of Kings and Lord of Lords?
Why do we think that church is the place where anything goes?
If you will not wear some clothes to a job interview because you consider it indecent, why would you wear it to the presence of the one who has your life and breath and tomorrow in his hands?
If you and your family were invited to a dinner with the prime minister, you would make your children well behaved.
Why do we allow our children to behave anyhow in the house of God?
If you will wake up early to make an appointment with a man, why would you take God for granted and come anytime to his presence?
If you won’t be at work for any reason, you call your employers and tell them why you won’t be at work. You don’t just stay off for 3 days or one week and then come back.
If you won’t do that with your work place why do that with the house of God? Why not a phone call or an email just so that we can cover you with prayers wherever you are?
Some of you will still make it to work no matter how sick you are. But one tiny headache becomes an excuse to stay away from the house of God, the only one who can give you rest!
There are the reasons why the lives of many people are shaky, unstable and unpredictable.
“A son honors his father, and a slave his master. If I am a father, where is the honor due me? If I am a master, where is the respect due me?” says the Lord Almighty. “It is you priests who show contempt for my name. “But you ask, ‘How have we shown contempt for your name?’ (Malachi 1:6 NIV)
4. Serve Him by honoring his servants
– Honor God by honoring those he has sent to minister to you. If you honor your man of God, you are honoring God. Those who dishonor prophets systematically reduce their lifespan.
I did a study of some people in the bible who dishonored prophets and I saw that their ending was miserable.
1. Gehazi
2. Judas isacariot
3. Jezebel
4. Zedekiah the king of Judah
5. Abimelech, king of Gerar
6. Korah
7. Dathan
8. Abiram and their families
9. Absalom
10. King SAUL of Israel
11. Jeroboam
12. Ahab
13. King Herod
14. The 42 children who mocked Elisha
15. Job’s wife
16. Haman
17. Michal the daughter of SAUL.
18. Miriam
19. The people of Judah
2 Chronicles 36:16 (KJV)
But they mocked the messengers of God, and despised his words, and misused his prophets, until the wrath of the LORD arose against his people, till [there was] no remedy.
5. Serve Him With a Pure Conscience
2 Timothy 1:3 (KJV)
I thank God, whom I serve from [my] forefathers with pure conscience, that without ceasing I have remembrance of thee in my prayers night and day;
6. Serve him by serving others
7. Serve him with joy and gladness
Psalms 100:2 (KJV)
Serve the LORD with gladness: come before his presence with singing.
Anything you do for the Lord must be done with excitement so that you can be blessed. Don’t serve God as if you are being forced or coerced.
Don’t serve God as if you’re doing the pastor a favor
Don’t give offerings as if being forced. Give cheerfully. The bible says that God loves a cheerful giver.
2 Corinthians 9:7
Every man according as he purposeth in his heart, so let him give; not grudgingly, or of necessity: for God loveth a cheerful giver.
The reason many are not blessed is because they are not cheerful givers.
They are giving reluctantly or under compulsion, as if being forced.
Look at this;
Each of you should give as you have decided in your heart to give. You should not be sad when you give, and you should not give because you feel forced to give. God loves the person who gives happily. (2 Corinthians 9:7 NCV)
Don’t give as a result of guilt or shameful feeling.( Oh I have to do it so that no one will laugh at me)
Serve the Lord with excitement.
Carry chairs joyfully.
Wash the toilets gladly.
Serve the food with cheerfulness.
Sing in the choir with joy.
Usher people in with gladness.
Don’t squeeze your face as if being forced. You don’t have to do it. Stop serving God under tension and pressure.
There are only 2 things you can do. You either change your attitude or simply stop doing it.
If you keep doing things in God’s house as if you are being forced, then there’s no blessing involved!
This year we are building a house for the Lord. Your money is needed.
However you are not under compulsion.
8. Serve him with a perfect heart and a willing mind
1 Chronicles 28:9 (KJV)
And thou, Solomon my son, know thou the God of thy father, and serve him with a perfect heart and with a willing mind: for the LORD searcheth all hearts, and understandeth all the imaginations of the thoughts: if thou seek him, he will be found of thee; but if thou forsake him, he will cast thee off for ever.
This means;
Serve him excellently
Serve him as it ought to be done
Serve him with all your heart
Solomon served God so excellently well that people came from all over the world to see the temple he built.
Why not offer God your best?
Give him the best of your time
Give him the best of your talents
Give him the best of your money
Why are you giving God left over time? You have time to gist on the phone for hours or sleep or watch a movie or attend a function.
Why isn’t God a priority in your life?
Why aRe you giving God left overs?
– Left over money as offerings?
– Left over energy?
When You used to go to club and dance all night, you did it with all your energy.
Now why can’t you serve God with all your energy?
If you seek the Lord with a willing mind and a perfect heart, he’ll be found of you.
This year, may the Lord manifest his glory in your life.
