Restored Relationship

Rom. 8:9-17

The relationship between man and God was broken at the Garden of Eden because man sinned. Although man was created in God’s image, the image became marred. Man became possessed by carnal mind which is enmity against God and is not subject to God’s law. Instead of the cordial relationship between man and God which formerly existed, man became the object of God’s wrath. With the death of Jesus on the Cross of Calvary, the enmity between man and God was removed and the penalty of sin paid for. Man can now have peace with God, having been justified by faith. Having been reconciled with God, man can now take his place in God’s program as adopted son and co-heir with Jesus Christ. As the Christian becomes more mature, he learns to walk and act as a son, though an adopted son. The more mature he is, the more he enjoys the benefit of a son. Are you manifesting as a son? Or do you still behave as a slave?

Point of Emphasis:  An heir, as long as he is a child, does not differ at all from a slave.

Prayer Point:             Holy Spirit, assist me to take my proper place as a son of God.
