DAILY DEVOTIONAL READING

Devotion Helps Develop Spiritual Fruits
Jn. 15:1-8
The Christian is like a branch of a vine. The vine branch tends to grow woody and eventually becomes unfruitful. The vine dresser goes through the exercise of cutting away those parts of the branch which will render it unfruitful. Daily devotion submits the Christian to the pruning knife of God, the vine dresser. The Christian needs to abide in Christ and make himself available for this pruning. Pruning is often not pleasant and many want to avoid it. They prefer to be pampered, even when they are rotten. Daily devotion teaches the Christian to follow a lifestyle of obedience and dying to self. The Christian learns to hear from God and to recognise when God is speaking. He is fed with fresh bread of the word as he sits in the presence of God. It is a time of correction, reproof and training in righteousness.
Point of Emphasis: Every Christian is still an unfinished product which God is working on.
Prayer Point: Prune me oh God and make me bear more fruit for Your glory.
