Christ Is The Chief Cornerstone
Eph. 5: 25-32
Paul used the analogy of marriage to illustrate the relationship between Christ and the church. Though he was not particularly speaking about power or control as some teach ask for mutual submission, calling on husbands to be Christ-figures. Christ gives Himself up by providing all that the church needs through self-sacrifice. He gave up for a time the riches of the heaven in order to fulfil his divinely ordained role on earth. He took our sin, pain, and failures so that we could have His righteousness, healing and victory. Peter spoke of Christ in 1 Pet. 2:6-7 in this form “Behold I lay in Zion, A chief cornerstone, elect, precious, and he who believes on Him will by no means be put to shame”… “The stone which the builders rejected has become the chief cornerstone”. Since you affirm your faith in Him, there is no principality or power that can put you to shame.
Point of Emphasis: Christ is the chief cornerstone of the Church, He cleanses it to make it glorious.
Prayer Point: Give me and my church the grace to remain submissive to You Oh Lord.
