Love: An Evidence of New Life
1 Jn. 3:14-18
One receives the life of Christ at the point of accepting Him as one’s Lord and Saviour. The Bible gives an assurance of being born again in 1 John 3:9 by saying that, “Whoever has been born of God does not sin, for His seed remains in him; and he cannot sin, because he has been born of God”. The seed of God in this verse means the nature of God. As the nature of God if holiness, so is His nature love. The Bible even says God is love. This, therefore, implies that anyone who claims to be born again possesses God’s nature of love. This love is practical. It is relational. It is the direct opposite of hate. Another basic assurance of being born again and having eternal life, according to this passage is love. Anyone who hates his brother or sister is a murderer. He has no portion of eternal life because no murderer will enter God’s kingdom. If you have Jesus in you, you must demonstrate it by acting in love to the brethren around you. Show a true love to that widow, orphan, and hungry brethren around you today. You can by so doing raise a hope of eternal life in them.
Point of Emphasis: Prove that you have the new life by loving in deed and in truth.
Prayer Point: Lord, I receive the seed of love and ability to demonstrate it in Jesus’ name.
