Avoid False Teachers And Prophets
Rev. 2:18-21; 2 Pet. 2:1-3
A prevalent sin within the church in Thyatira was the tendency to tolerate sin, unrighteousness and unbiblical teaching by their leaders. False teachers and prophets had been in existence since the time of early church fathers even up to this day. They cleverly teach heresies about God and turn people’s hearts away from God. It is a pity today that we have some “so called Christians” who are deceived by clever lies. The Bible says “Ye shall know the truth and the truth shall set you free”. Who is the truth? The truth is Jesus who has made us free from the condemnation of sin. A glorious Church who earnestly waits for the arrival of Her Master should watch out and have nothing to do with these false teachers and prophets who pretend to be godly but their consciences are dead. God said he would judge such leaders and punish them if they do not repent. The church in Thyatira tolerated false prophetess (Jezebel) who misled God’s servants to sin sexually and eat food offered to idols. Believers must be sensitive always not to fall into the hands of these hypocrites and liars, “by their fruits ye shall know them”.
Point of Emphasis: Your spiritual antenna must be active to know who are on the Lord’s path, don’t be deceived.
Prayer Point: Help me oh Lord to be watchful and sensitive in the spirit.
