Demonstration Of The Spirit And Power
1 Cor. 2:4-12
Paul’s preaching consisted of convicting people of sin, righteousness and judgment. He bore witness to the saving power of the Lord Jesus. God hates pride and this is a weakness of man but God through the power of the Holy Spirit is able to remove the pride spirit and replace it with an ‘humble spirit’ so that one can be strengthened and come boldly to His throne of grace. One of the most striking characteristics of Paul is the absence of self-reliance. Putting his rhetorical skills aside and discarding his philosophical inclinations, Paul delivered his messages to the Corinthian church with exclusive trust in the power of the Holy Spirit to change lives. His preaching was not a matter of enticing words or of human wisdom but of “demonstration of the Spirit’s power.” The experience of this power, however, begins when we humble ourselves and surrender to the power of the Spirit. Paul demonstrated boldness in preaching the undiluted word of God by the leading of the Holy Spirit. Believers in Christ’s glorious church should emulate Paul by depending on the Holy Spirit.
Point of Emphasis: Trust in the power of Holy Spirit to change your life and preach the word.
Prayer Point: Lord, help me to empty myself and be filled up with the Holy Spirit power.
