Christlike Through The Holy Spirit
Acts 11:22-26
Barnabas shows us how the life of a Christian should be. He was filled with the Holy Spirit and faith (verse 24). He was sent by the rest of the disciples from Jerusalem to Antioch. He exhorted the believers from his whole heart that they should cleave unto the Lord. He demonstrated how new converts should be treated. They are to be helped and encouraged in faith, love and fellowship with Christ and His church. The presence of the Holy Spirit made them to have intimate relationship with Christ. It is obvious that through their acts they received Him as their Lord. Their behaviour which resembled that of Christ made them to be called Christians (i.e. that they have been with Jesus Christ). Allow the Holy Spirit to live in you so that you will be transformed completely to become Christlike.
Point of Emphasis: The Disciples were called Christians first in Antioch because they allowed the Holy Spirit to make them Christlike.
Prayer Point: O, Lord, my God, let Your Holy Spirit dwell in me richly so that I will become Christlike.
