Curse-Prayer Forbidden
Matt. 5:39-48
Christ Jesus, our role model and Saviour, teaches that we should not resist evil (verse 39). Christ instructs Christians to pray for their enemies and be kind to those who hate them and bless those who curse them. Those who have the Spirit of Christ will not act against His instruction. There are certain requirements – Christians who wish to receive answer to their prayer and make heaven are expected to live at higher level than the people in the world. It is when we obey Jesus’ advice that we resemble our Father in Heaven. When Jesus went through the agony of death at Calvary, He demonstrated what He taught. He prayed to the Father for forgiveness for His tormentors (Lk. 23:34). It is lack of maturity and genuine love for others that makes us to pray a curse-prayer. Your real enemy is Satan and his agents. You have been empowered to resist the devil and cast out demons. If you can grow into spiritual maturity, you will be able to exercise your spiritual right. You will then know that curse-prayer is not acceptable before God.
Point of Emphasis: Curse-prayer is not acceptable before God.
Prayer Point: Holy Spirit, I depend on You, help me to pray right.
