After giving one’s life to Jesus, the natural self, which was under the control of sin, will want to rise and dominate. Spiritual maturity is demonstrated by crucifying this natural self, also known as the carnal nature. As long as a person gives free rein to his carnal nature, he cannot grow spiritually, because the carnal nature and the spiritual nature are enemies. The carnal man cannot please God. Jesus did not give room for His carnal nature to operate. He was tempted the same way as we are, yet without sinning. We should imitate Paul who was able to say “I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I but Christ lives in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself for me” Gal. 2:20. Many remain spiritual babes because they refuse to crucify the carnal nature. Is your carnal nature still ruling your desires and tastes?

Point of Emphasis:    Mortify therefore your members which are upon the earth. Do not let sin reign over you.
Prayer Point:    Father, give me total victory over the flesh, which wants to rule over me.

Apres avoir donné sa vie à Jésus, l’état naturel qui était sous le contrôle du péché, voudra se manifester pour dominer. La maturité spirituelle est démontrée par la crucifixion de l’état naturel aussi connu comme la nature charnelle. Tant qu’une personne donne libre cours à sa nature charnelle, il ne peut pas croître spirituellement car la nature charnelle est inimitié contre la nature spirituelle. La nature charnelle ne peut pas plaire à Dieu. Jésus n’a pas laissé la place à sa nature charnelle d’opérer. Il fut tenté de la même façon que nous le sommes, sans pourtant pécher. Nous devons imiter Paul qui était capable de dire : « J’ai été crucifié avec Christ; et si je vis, ce n’est plus moi qui vis, c’est Christ qui vit en moi; si je vis maintenant dans la chair, je vis dans la foi au Fils de Dieu, qui m’a aimé et qui s’est livré lui-même pour moi» (Ga. 2:20). Beaucoup restent encore des enfants nouveau-nés spirituels car ils refusent de crucifier la nature charnelle. Est-ce que ta nature charnelle continue de gouverner tes désirs et tes goûts?

Point essentiel : Fais donc mourir tes actions qui sont sur terre. Ne permets pas au péché de régner sur toi.
Axe de prière : Père, accorde-moi la victoire totale sur la chair qui veut régner sur moi.
