Christian Suffering Is Not In Vain
2 Tim. 2: 9-14
The Bible is replete with the fact that the Christian journey is not all a bed of roses. There are occasions when the Christian has to encounter suffering for several reasons, majorly because we are not of the world. The sufferings may come in form of persecutions from the world system or for the sake of the gospel as the case of Paul in this passage. But for whatever reason(s), we are expected to endure the sufferings that we may encounter as long as it is not suffering for a wrong action or decision (1 Pet. 2:19-20). Enduring suffering for righteousness or for the sake of the gospel is like identifying with the suffering of Christ in the course of His earthly ministry. If we so suffer with Him, the suffering is definitely not in vain because we shall be rewarded by also reigning with Him. On the other hand if any one denies Him in the days of suffering, He will also deny such a person on the day of rewards.
Point of Emphasis: If we suffer with Him, we shall also reign with Him.
Prayer Point: Help me Lord, to stand firm in the days of suffering so as to be able to reign with You.
