Making The Difference
1 Thess. 5:4-9
“Watch” (Greek gregoreo) means “stay awake or keep watch” verses 4-9 context indicates that Paul is not exhorting his readers to watch for the “day of the Lord but rather to be spiritually prepared in order to escape the wrath of that day. If we are to escape the wrath of God, we must make the difference by remaining spiritually awake and morally alert, and continue in faith, love and the hope of salvation (vv 8-9). The promise in verse 9 should be the reason why the return of Christ should be a comfort to us.
Point of Emphasis: “Let us watch and be sober”.
Prayer Point: I am not of the night nor of darkness therefore I will not sleep. Help me O Lord to make a difference.
