Forbear One Another
Col. 3:12-17
People who live far apart seldom offend one another. But as we get closer as members of the same congregation the failings of each person are likely to become manifest. The probability of offending one another will increase as we move closer one to another. To forbear one another, means to deal with one another with patient self-control – where a person offended is patient with the offender, refraining from outbursts of anger or retaliation. Forbearance is possible where there are tender mercies, kindness, humility meekness and longsuffering. Where there is love, sixty people can live within just a match box. But when so-called Christians cannot tolerate one another, there cannot be harmony. God is long-suffering towards us, and expects us to demonstrate the same attribute.
Point of Emphasis: Love is accommodating, patient, demonstrates self-control and is longsuffering.
Prayer Point: God, deepen my capacity to love and forbear those around me.
